Summary
The Philadelphia Writing Project working in collaboration with the Frances E. Willard and Philip H. Sheridan Elementary School communities offered a Kid Writing program during the 2015-2016 school year that emphasized teacher professional development in tandem with opportunities for parents to actively support the writing of kindergarten and first grade students at home and at school.
Our work is grounded in Kid Writing: A Systematic Approach to Phonics, Journals and Writing Workshop, written by two PhilWP TCs, Eileen G. Feldgus and Isabell Cardonick. This work was made possible with the generous support of the William Penn Foundation.
